BITY- Sukkot Sleepover: A Great Night Under the Stars
BITY Annual Lock-In!
BITY had another great Lock-In at CBI this year. Each year it gets better and better! Games, food, fun...it is always a night to remember.
Teen Hanukkah Party and Service
Teens came together for a fun night to celebrate Hanukkah and Shabbat! They enjoyed dinner together and
made marshmallow dreidels for dessert. Following dinner, everyone joined together to do the Hanukkah blessings and then participated in a teen-only Shabbat Service in the Chapel, led by songleader, Ben Zeiger. What a great night!
BITY Attends NFTY Leadership Training Institute (LTI)
In October 2007 our BITY Board with advisor Shayna attended a weekend-long retreat at Camp Hess Kramer in Malibu, California with 100 other youth board members from Southern California. Our teens participated in programs, lessons and activities aimed at increasing leadership skills, as well as social action projects and a memorable Shabbat celebration. Everyone had plenty of time to socialize and meet new friends.
BITY Sukkot Sleepover & Teen Drumming Service
This year’s Sukkot Sleepover was a sweet success– both for the whole temple programming (run by Tammy Vener) and the BITY programming. With over 30 High Schoolers participating, it was a night full of projects, songs, a lots of fun. Led by the BITY Board, we had our 2nd teen service of the year– outdoors– and with drums! Teens got to participate in making music together with drums and other instruments along with our songleader, Ben Zeiger who led with his guitar. Following a Rubio’s buffet, teens worked on 2 projects– making peace banners (which are now on display in the CBI Youth Lounge) and a huge tzedakah box, that is decorated like a ‘piggy’ bank. $ collected will go towards BITY social action projects throughout the year. Everyone gathered together to enjoy s’mores in the sukkah, and then the teens sang good-night songs to the younger families.
Staying up late into the night, BITY watched movies, chatted, and spent time together in the sukkah, just hangin’ out. It really was a fun night, sleeping over at the temple!
