Music at Beth Israel

Listen to Rabbi/Cantor Bernstein's Recordings of Prayers and Blessings

Music Is Integral to Worship at Beth Israel

Our sanctuary, chapel, courtyard and school rooms are filled with the sounds of Jewish music - from ancient to modern; Eastern European to the music of Yemen. Join us in music and song and help keep alive a wondrous tradition.

Our Erev Shabbat, festival services and other events are often enhanced by the sound of our Shabbat & Festival Choir, Youth and Teen Choir and Chai Band. Beth Israel's Chai Band

The Chai Band is composed primarily of congregants who are professional and non-professional musicians. The Chai Band plays at the Erev Shabbat service on the final Friday of each month between September and May and at special services and events. Musicians who play woodwinds, brass, guitar, strings or keyboard are invited to contact Rabbi/Cantor Bernstein for information about the band.

Beth Israel's Choirs

If you love to sing and make music, and if you fall anywhere between the ages of 6-ish to 120-ish, please join a choir. Beth Israel can provide you with an exciting way to enjoy the art of music and song with the added fun of socializing with people who love music the same way you do.

Zimriyah Chorale

The Zimriyah Chorale sings at the 1st Erev Shabbat Service of the month and at special services and events including Selichot, Rosh Hashanah and Chanukah. All are welcome to sing with the choir. You don't need to know how to read music. Choir rehearsals are from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday evenings.

Teen and Youth Choirs

Information about the Teen and Youth Choir is available in the Youth section of this Web site.

Music in the Schools

In our Preschool and Religious School there are music programs for all ages from babies to high schoolers. We teach traditional and modern prayers and songs to all of our students.
