We look forward to you and your family joining us for the High Holy Days. Due
to high demand and limited seating, most of our High Holy Day services are held
downtown at the Civic Theatre and in the Copper Room of Golden Hall (adjacent
to the Civic Theatre). Services held in these off-site locations require tickets.
This is the only time during the year when we use for tickets for attendance
at worship services.
Tickets and Admissions
Adult Members in Good Standing
Will Receive Tickets
CBI members in good standing receive High Holy Days admission tickets as a privilege of membership. "In good standing" means:
1. Your membership dues, building maintenance fund and school fees due through June 30, 2008 are paid in full or mutually agreed upon arrangements have been made to bring your account current, and;
2. Your membership dues for the fiscal year that began on July 1, 2008, have been paid in full, or we have received a Dues Payment Option Form from you and your account is current according to the payment plan you selected.
If you are experiencing financial difficulties and cannot meet the requirements above, please call Member Services at 858-535-1111, ext. 3113.
Security Measures
As in previous years, security measures will be enforced, with all purses, bags
and strollers searched at the doors. Please bring as few items as possible wth
you to the Civic Theatre.
Tickets for Children
Children under 18 do not need tickets for the adult services
if they walk in with their parents. Member's children who are age 18 or older
will need tickets. If they live with, or are supported by their parents,
these tickets will be made available free of charge, but they must be ordered
in advance, using the Member High Holy Days Order Form that is part of the information
packet sent recently to member households.
Please see Family Service ticket information.
Tickets for Relatives and Friends
You may order tickets for relatives and friends by sending in the Extra Ticket
Order Form found in the High Holy Days information packet recently sent out to
member households.
Tickets for Students and Military
Students and active duty military personnel will be given tickets at no charge, at the Civic Theatre, upon presentation of a valid student or military identification card.
How to Attend the Optional
Morning Family Services
Members and children attending the optional Morning Family Services in the Copper

Are You Alone for the Holy Days? New to Our Congregation?
Many of our members have families too far away or no family at all to be with during the High Holy Day Services. Are you new to our CBI family and wish to meet other members with whom to share High Holy Day Services? Or, are you a member wishing to invite a new member to share the High Holy Days with you and your family?
If you answered 'yes', please contact Susan
Hutchison at 858-535-1111, ext.
3116 or Bonnie Graff at 858-535-1111, ext. 3128. Congregation Beth Israel's
Kehillah Caring Community Committee will then put you in contact with each other
prior to the services. Start your New Year with a mitzvah.

Theatre in San Diego. |
Where can we go if we are not members of a synagogue?
We know that most Jews in San Diego are not affiliated with a synagogue, but
would like an opportunity to worship at the High Holy Days. You are cordially
invited to worship with us at the San Diego Civic Theatre, where we have worshipped
during the High Holy Days for three decades.
The charge for tickets at the Civic Theatre is applicable to synagogue membership.

Sounding of the Shofar
Every
day in the month of Elul, the shofar is sounded to anticipate the coming of Rosh
Hashanah and to give us an entire month of reflection to prepare ourselves spiritually
for the High Holy Days. Congregant Sophie Vener sounds the shofar at CBI's
High Holy Days observances.
