SCHOOL FIRST GRADE TEACHERS
Carole Wilinsky has taught at Beth Israel for more than 20 years teaching
kindergarten for 19 years before moving to first grade in 2006. She is dedicated
to giving the best of history, holidays and mitzvot to her classes.
Carole grew up in Rochester, N.Y., but has lived in San Diego for 24 years. She
enjoys travel, theater and history. She takes classes at UCSD that are offered
through the Bureau of Education. In 1996, she won the Pedagogic Award from the
Bureau of Education.
Carole's husband, Gerald, is retired, and tutors students in clarinet. She has
two daughters, Lori Frank, who is a Cantor at Temple Adat Shalom in Poway, and
Teri, who is a song composer, plays in a band in Los Angeles and writes movie
music.
Lynn Stearns enjoys teaching Beth Israel's First Grade students. She has taught at Beth Israel for six years and before that
she taught Kindergarten for 20 years in San Francisco at Rodef Sholom.
She has a passion for teaching students of all ages and making sure each
student reaches their potential goals and feels good about themselves.
Lynn works at USD as a transfer analyst. She evaluates transcripts of freshmen
and transfer students and helps students meet their educational goals. Lynn enjoys
water aerobics, traveling, and taking art and music courses.
Lynn has a degree in Child Development and a Masters degree in early childhood
special education. She and her husband Jon have two sons, a daughter-in-law,
a granddaughter named Amara and a dog named Alana.
