RELIGIOUS
SCHOOL CLUBS
Chevrah Tefillah
To enhance understanding and comfort with Jewish liturgy we strongly
encourage students to strive for a high level of service attendance.
Students may count Shabbat or holiday services toward their totals.
Students
report their service attendance to Rhona
Gordon in the school office at 858-535-1111
ext. 3121.
Students who reach these service attendance goals will be honored at
the end of the school year.
3rd grade – 3 services
5th grade – 5 services
4th grade – 4 services
6th grade – 6 services
Tzedekah Chai Club
The Tzedakah Chai Club honors those who give tzedakah
regularly, or at least 18 times during the year. Tzedakah is collected on Sundays
in Religious School. Members of the club are recognized quarterly.
Tzedakah means righteous acts of loving
kindness and the giving of charity. Our tradition teaches that giving to others
who are less fortunate is a mitzvah (a commandment).
Please help your children
to get into the tzedakah habit by reminding them to set aside some of their money
each week for tzedakah. Students will have an opportunity to direct their class
tzedakah by discussing different options.
Youth Choir
The Youth Choir, comprised of singers in Grades 2-6, rehearses every Sunday that Religious School is in session. Pizza and juice will be served to youth choir members from 11:30 a.m.-11:50 a.m. Youth choir rehearsal will follow from 11:50 a.m.-12:35 p.m. in the Foster Family Chapel. Parents may pick up children at 12:35 p.m.
We need you to help us lead our congregation in prayer. Please invite your friends to join the Youth Choir. Please RSVP if you will be attending. To join the Youth Choir e-mail list or to RSVP, please send your contact information to Susan Hutchison, Cantor Bernstein's assistant.
