My name is Rachel Sampson and I am thrilled to be returning to my home here at CBI. Beth Israel introduced me to Jewish camp where I attended first as a camper and then as a counselor. Camp Newman introduced me to Israel through the NFTY EIE program. I spent a semester in high school learning and experiencing the beautiful language and culture of Israel. My Israel experience inspired me to continue learning and practicing my Hebrew. While in college I stayed connected with Judaism by becoming a student leader at Hillel and studying Hebrew for 3 years. My interest in working with children began with my experience as a Madricha at Beth Israel and as a Camp counselor at Camp Newman. Throughout college I was involved in the local community in public schools working with primary students in the garden, tutoring at-risk middle school youth, and interning with child protective services (CPS). I recently returned from an 8-month assignment in Tanzania, East Africa. I love working with children, and my creativity blossoms when thinking about lessons, programs, and games to help them learn and experience Judaism.
