Jessica Kretzer has spent her life hopping from one Beth Israel to another. She is originally from Houston, Texas where her family belonged to (and still belongs to) Congregation Beth Israel in Houston. Jessica worked for five years as a madricha on Sunday mornings in her temple's religious school while a middle and high schooler. Jessica graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelor's Degree in Deaf Education and also spent all four years of her college career teaching fifth grade religious school at Congregation Beth Israel in Austin. Jessica relocated to San Diego for graduate school in 2004. After a year teaching 7th grade at Congregation Emanu El, she joined the Beth Israel teaching staff in 2006. She attends our 4th/5th and 6th/7th grade camps, chaperones youth group events, and has supervised four of CBI's Confirmation Class/L'Taken trips to Washington, DC. Jessica also facilitates the second year "Rosh Hodesh: It's a Girl Thing" group at Congregation Beth Israel. When not at CBI (teaching 4th, 7th, and 9th grades), Jessica is a teacher at Madison High School where she develops functional life skill curriculum and community based instruction for students who are Deaf and have multiple handicapping conditions. Jessica and her husband, Mark, enjoy traveling and spending time at the beach with their dog, Proton. They welcomed their first son, Max, to their family this past July and they are slowly starting to adjust to life with considerably less sleep.
