ANNOUNCEMENTS
Many Women Counted Many Blessings!
Our Count Your Blessings fundraiser was a huge success and so well received. People commented on how they took stock of what was really important to them and welcomed the opportunity to say thanks and show gratitude. Now it’s our turn to say – THANK YOU! Your generosity will enable us to continue funding much needed programs at CBI and you all are our blessings!
WBI Welcomes Rabbis Berk
In March, the WBI Board officially welcomed Rabbis Aliza and Michael Berk to our congregation at a Shabbat dinner in their honor. After the meal, we were treated to the incredible musical talents of Andy Mayer, Heidi Gantwerk, Tracy Hirschfeld and, of course, our own Cantor Bernstein, in a special musical Shabbat Kaleidoscope.
What a wonderful evening it was!
Thank You to our April WBI Ushers
Lisa Gittleman, Anita Hosenpud, Valerie Leman, and Elaine Moser. If you are a WBI member planning on attending Friday Shabbat services and would like to do a mitzvah, how about ushering? It’s a wonderful way to welcome those entering our beautiful Sanctuary. Contact or call 858-522-8288.
Two Ways You Can Help WBI Help Homeless Women
Next Dinner Will be on Sun., May 11 at 5:00 p.m.
Women of Beth Israel continue to support Rachel's Women's Center as a mitzvah project, and you can help. Join a small group of us at Rachel's Women's Center
on the second Sunday of each month at 5:00 pm as we prepare and serve dinner to 30 homeless women. It is easy, fun and very rewarding…wait until you
feel the hugs and enjoy the smiles of our supper guests. In addition to the monthly dinners, we collect toiletries, unused cosmetics, underwear and socks for the
women. Collection baskets are at all WBI events and in the CBI lobby. Please bring your donations and consider volunteering at our monthly dinners. For more
information contact Julianne Markow at 858-344-5088.

Cafe Beth Israel
Open Sundays, During Religious School, 9:00 to 11:30 a.m.
This new venue was created for the benefit of Religious School parents but is open to all. The social hall is set up with tables, a 35-inch TV, where parents can nosh on bagels and sweets and drink coffee or decaf. The Men’s Club is providing bagels, cream cheese, the San Diego Union-Tribune LA Times and NY Times newspapers. The CBI Library will provide books for browsing.
Parents can bring their laptop and connect to the new Wi-Fi service. Cafe Beth Israel is sponsored by the Men's Club and WBI.
Bar/Bat Mitzvah Donations
The Women of Beth Israel donate in many different ways to the CBI community. The loving gift of candlesticks and/or Kiddush cups we give to the B’nai Mitzvahs each weekend is one such example. These donations are made possible through your membership dues and WBI fundraising events. And you, our WBI members, make that possible.
WBI Ushers at Shabbat Services
Women of Beth Israel began ushering September 1, 2007, at the Friday Shabbat Services in a dual effort with Men's Club. We think it is wonderful for the women of our temple to be sharing in this experience. Those how have ushered said it is truly a joyful experience.
Remember all members of WBI are welcome to usher at Friday night services, so please contact
, Program Chairperson, at 858-552-8288. We are now accepting signups for February. through April. This is an excellent way to better acquaint yourself with other members of our Congregation Beth Israel family.
