1. What does the Congregation do with my dues?
Think of dues as a form of Tzedakah, not as a fee for service. Annual membership dues contributions sustain this institution and make it possible for us to provide programs and services to all. Dues are our major source of operational income with which we pay our ongoing expenses for educational and program materials, building operations, security, insurance, salaries and annual support of the Union for Reform Judaism (formerly the Union of American Hebrew Congregations).

2. What is the Century Club?
Our Century Club is a program of enhanced annual support of the synagogue above the Standard Dues. The contributions of Century Club congregants make it possible for us to offer membership to anyone regardless of their ability to pay full dues. There are five levels in our Century Club: Mitzvah Members, Patrons, Sponsors, Benefactors and Pillars. There are also tangible benefits offered to Century Club congregants at each of these levels. Our Century Club congregants are sustaining members who by their additional support make an investment in our future and help guarantee Jewish survival. More Century Club information. 3. Can I pay my financial obligations in installments?
Yes. Dues, Building Maintenance Fund, and school fees can all be paid in installments. Please refer to our Dues Payment Option Form or School Enrollment Applications for details.

4. Is it possible to receive financial assistance if I cannot afford the full dues or Religious School Tuition?
Yes. While the dues and tuition amounts are set by the Board of Directors to pay for the costs of operating the temple, we do not turn anyone away who cannot pay the full amounts. It has always been our practice to accept members at a rate commensurate with their ability to pay. More information about Dues. 5. If I need a dues adjustment or a Religious School scholarship, what do I have to do?
The Board of Directors requires anyone needing a dues adjustment or a Religious School Scholarship, to complete our Application for Dues/Financial Adjustment, which is evaluated by our Dues Review Committee.

6. Are there charges other than dues I should know about?
Yes. Dues do not cover all the costs of operating the synagogue. There are additional fees for Religious School, Bar and Bat Mitzvah training and Preschool.

7. Do I receive High Holy Day tickets with the membership?
Yes. For regular synagogue membership, excluding Associate Members, couples receive two adult tickets and single members receive one adult ticket. Members also receive a ticket for any unmarried child who is still financially dependent. If a member needs additional tickets for children or guests who do not meet these criteria, they may be purchased in accordance with our established High Holy Day Guest Ticket Policy. 8. What are the Building Maintenance Fund and the Capital Campaign?
Congregation Beth Israel asks all new members age 31 and over to contribute to this Fund. Contributions are generally payable over five years. A portion of this money is used each year to pay for improvements and major repairs, including purchase of equipment and furnishings. The balance is kept in a reserve fund.

At this time we are still seeking Capital Gifts to complete our fund raising objectives. We invite all members to consider making a pledge to our new temple Capital Campaign in which we offer donor naming opportunities. Anyone who wishes to discuss our Capital Campaign should speak with the Membership: Member & Donor Services Coordinator at 858-535-1111 ext. 3113.
