Eloheinu Makor HaChayim – Our God, the creator of all things…

We ask
Who is a leader?
To this, our Jewish tradition has an answer…
A leader is one who identifies with his or her people…
Mindful of our potential faults and failings
But ever convinced Of our potential for greatness…
As we learn this week from our Torah.

May we be blessed with the ability to make rules
And to make choices
To hear laws
To listen to matters
And to work for the common good.

Our personal promises
And our own convictions
Afford us many blessings
And may we continue to be blessed.

We listen
We hear
And we do…

The Talmudic tradition teaches
That "Happy is the generation where the great listen to the small, for it follows that in such a generation, the small will listen to the great".

And so therefore we pray that we
May each have the foresight to see beyond the immediacy of our needs
And work for what lies ahead…

May we each be guarded in our comings and our goings…
And may the still small voice within us help lead us towards
The pursuit of Justice
Liberty
Truth
And the choicest blessing of them all, shalom,
Peace, wholeness and goodness.

Ufros Aleinu Sukkat Shelomecha…
May the sheltering canopy of God’s love guide us and protect us from this day forth to the next…

And we say together, Amen.
