Cemetery & Mausoleum

The pre-need purchase of burial space is a thoughtful act, sparing loved ones from making business decisions at a difficult time and In addition they usually result in a cost savings. Congregation Beth Israel's Cemetery & Mausoleum Association provides Jewish burial space for members and their extended families. Our own history is directly connected not only to San Diego's first Jewish congregation, but also to the first Jewish cemetery, dating from 1862.

For information without obligation regarding all burial options available to CBI members contact Stuart Simmons, C&M Representative at 619 871-4160.

Mount of Olives Memorial Lawns at El Camino Memorial Park
Mount of OlivesEl Camino Memorial Park in Sorrento Valley is a setting that combines the serene beauty of rolling hills, grassy slopes and open lawn areas that provide a comforting burial place. CBI owns burial space in two areas of the Park, which we call Mount of Olives Memorial Lawns I & II. The first lawn opened in 1992 and there are no longer spaces available there. Mt. of Olives II has been open since 1998.

Although the park is open to all faiths, our lawns are considered consecrated Jewish burial space. A polished granite memorial marker identifies each of our Lawns, A State supervised endowment fund assures proper perpetual care of the cemetery.

Home of Peace Corridors at Cypress View Mausoleum
home of peace corridorsAlthough in-ground burial has been associated with Jewish death rituals, above-ground mausoleum entombment has long been an option for Jewish burial. Our Corridors were planned to meet the needs of Jewish families by offering crypts at various levels in either individual, tandem companion, or side-by-side companion arrangements. For individuals deciding on cremation, niches for cremated remains are also available. Adjacent to the crypts, the Sol Stone Memorial Chapel provides an intimate, private area for small funeral gatherings.
