Board Meeting Schedule
The CBI Board meets monthly, usually on the third Thursday of each month at 5:00 p.m. Board meetings are open to members. Please contact Heather Taylor-Williams at 858 535-1111, ext. 3126 if you plan to attend.


Annual Meeting
The Congregation meets once a year to elect members to the Board of Directors and Nominating Committee,  announce and recognize our Volunteer(s) of the Year, thank retiring Board members, acknowledge our teachers, and hear remarks by our senior rabbi, Board treasurer, and Board president. The next Annual Meeting will be Thursday, May 19 with a reception at 6:00 p.m. and the meeting at 7:00 p.m.


Emily Jennewein, President

emily_jennewein_08Emily Jennewein is president of Congregation Beth Israel. She and her family have been members since they moved to San Diego in 2001. Emily was Vice President for Education, she served on the search committee that selected Rabbi Michael Berk, and she co-chaired the search committee that selected Rabbi Michael Satz. She chaired A Musical Night in Jerusalem, which honored Cantor Arlene Bernstein for her first 10 years of service to the congregation. She also serves on the Finance and Communications committees.

Professionally, Emily is the principal of a website and marketing communications firm. She created CBI's website in 2002, served as the synagogue's volunteer webmaster for several years, and designed the temple's first weekly e-newsletter. In 2003, she was honored as Volunteer of the Year.

Emily earned an M.B.A. from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College and graduated from Amherst College. Emily lives in Del Mar with her husband Chris, who is senior regional editor for Southern California for AOL's Patch network of local news websites. Their daughters, Maddy and Penny, became b'not mitzvah and celebrated their confirmations at Beth Israel, and are currently college students. Emily also serves on the board of Hillel of San Diego.

Shabbat Services

Most Saturdays Congregation Beth Israel holds Shabbat services in the mornings at 10:00 a.m. and afternoons at 4:00 p.m. in our beautiful Glickman-Galinson sanctuary. These services celebrate the Bar/Bat Mitzvahs of our members and are open to the entire community. Please join us and celebrate Shabbat!
